THE MONTHLY ADDRESS BY THE PRESIDENT OF ATAKUNMOSA HIGH SSCHOOL OSU, OLD STUDENTS’ ASSOCIATION, MR. LATEEF BAKARE, FCA FEBRUARY 2024

All protocols duly observed.

Ladies and gentlemen, I congratulate every one of us for witnessing the second month of the year 2024. No doubt, our God has been faithful and merciful.

First, let me thank you all for standing by the Association all the time. May God never forsake you. Your cooperation is not taken for granted please. As at the last count of our contribution for the Digital project, it wasN10,051,225.00 (Ten million, fifty one thousand, two hundred and twenty five Naira). We have done enough spadework for the take-off of the project. A Committee that will actualize it within a period of one month, will be put in place in the next few days.

To improve the teaching of science subjects in the school, the Education Committee, on our behalf, has recruited an experienced Biology Teacher with a Master’s degree for the students. As a way of ensuring that our efforts on the school give us the desired results, we have organised regular checks on the school’s academic activities and its environment. I am pleased to inform you that the reports have been encouraging and hope that these will translate to improved performance.

Meanwhile, we have observed that the students are in urgent need of toilet facilities. We are looking at the possibility of getting something done on this very soon.

I wish to use this opportunity to sympathize with our brothers and sisters who were affected one way or the other by the recent hacking of telephone lines on our platforms. Activities of Hackers have assumed a disquieting dimension and heightened vigilance is required as we navigate these times. In the meantime, I implore everyone to activate the 2-Step Verification Procedure on our WhatsApp platform.

Furthermore, I urge us to get very familiar with our telephone devices. Nothing of such versatility would come free of any downside. It is for us to mitigate the associated risks given the immense benefit associated with their use.

We are, in the meantime, looking at the possibility of providing information and training on Cybersecurity on our various platforms. I am aware of some platforms that have restricted access to postings to Administrators only in order to safeguard the platforms from unnecessary intrusion. We are also on the trail of the beneficiary of the fund transfer from one of our members.

At this juncture, let me say again that we should take care of our health and advice those who are close to us to do so. Let us seek information about what to eat and do as we advance in age.

We have a lot of information that can really be helpful to us out there. Of course, we must validate social media information as they are not always accurate. Let us engage in regular exercise, rest at the appropriate time and visit our Doctors when occasion demands.

I wish to congratulate those individuals and families who marked their birthdays, child’s naming or celebrated marriages of their children in the month of January. May God bless you all.

As a global family, we shall continue to take advantage of our exposure and connection to help one another and our common heritage.

I am indeed grateful to all Buddies for your cooperation and contribution to the school and the Association.

May God reward us abundantly and provide for our needs in this month and beyond.

THANK YOU ALL.
